Year in review, survey from Lindz
1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Rented a car and drove it myself!
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I did actually. I got a new job (well technically) moving from teaching adult upgrading to the tutoring division full time with a raise, so that was good. I went on an awesome trip with J to New York. You can see pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/25176472@N06/sets/72157605072762962/ I did not yet get a car but I did get a car loan! I have still not been drinking 8 glasses of water a day but I did work out weekly at cardio latin class. It was good that I listed my resolutions on facebook because it helped me actually remember them.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No. My friend E, had a baby November of 2007. I guess one of the supervisors at work was due at the end of December so I hope everything has gone well for you!
4. Did anyone close to you die?
It was a sad year, especially for Iron's family. His real father in Hungary passed away suddenly from a heart attack in March. His step father's father passed away in April so he went for a week to visit which was nice to see people at least. In terms of celebrities, Heath Ledger's death hit me pretty hard; I think almost as much as Princess Di's.
5. What countries did you visit?
U.S. for the first time since 91.
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
A CAR! And I am making it happen with a budget! :) My problem is I do not keep track of my money at all. I am only allowed spend $20 per month at Tim's on tea and a fixed amount on fast food now. Also, I am quitting the gym I never use.
7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Getting to be in the Evil Dead the Musical splatter zone in May! I had gone to the show twice before and I was dying to be in the first two rows. I was so happy to get splattered by Ash's crazy lil sister! (She basically threw a cup of fake blood in our direction) :)
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Teaching 3 and 4 year olds when I only really have experience with older kids in a classroom setting. That was quite the test for me!
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not keeping my mouth shut sometimes. I feel it makes me look and feel unprofessional.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
No, thank God I am pretty lucky.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
I think the accommodation in Montreal at the Chateau L'Argoat and the accommodation in New York at the Chelsea. I highly recommend both!
12. Whose behaviour merits celebration?
Molly's. She was an understanding friend even when she had a hard time understanding.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and upset?
My dad's! Especially during my 2-3 week visits!
14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent and student loans.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Arriving in New York. We were in a taxi, and it was all very exciting and surreal. Also, visiting the church where Celine got married in Montreal. That was a huge highlight!
16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
Cheesy but a few would be: "I Kissed a Girl" (Iron's cell phone ring!), "No Air" by Chris Brown and Jordyn Sparks and Lady Gaga "Just Dance".
17. Compared to this time last year, are you: Happier or sadder?
The same, if not perhaps a tad sadder.
ii. thinner or fatter?
The same, cellulite gone and I owe it to Cardio Latin. Not sure if I had it this time last year. I am attempting belly dancing in Jan. Wish me luck!
iii. richer or poorer?
A tiny bit richer, but it certainly didn't feel that way over Christmas due to my lack of planning for the holiday financially.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Volunteering, going to church, project completion at work.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Being on the internet wasting time, talking at work when I don't need to be going on about certain issues.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
With my family and Daisy doggie.
22. Did you fall in love in 2008?
No.
23. How many one-night stands?
None.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Coronation Street, America's Next Top Model, Amazing Race, How I Met Your Mother, Worst Week (very funny if you haven't watched this yet!)
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Yes, I do actually hate this one girl I work with. I know it may be petty of me but I just can't stand control freak type personalities who make mountains out of molehills! If someone does not switch off a light, I don't make a national emergency of it! I would wait a few times and then mention it casually! I spent a lot of the year rearranging the classrooms back for the adults so that she wouldn't say anything. It's really impossible to keep her happy!
26. What was the best book you read?
I didn't read many books...Um...it's probably better for me to list the books I did read: Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs, Teacher Man by Frank McCourt, My Booky Wooky by Russell Brand (good!), Not Guilty by Debbie Travis (great, especially if you are a fan of Debbie's and are interested in how to juggle work and kids). I am in the middle of reading The End of Ignorance by John Mighton which I highly recommend. I hope to have more time for reading this year, as I will go from working 12-8 back to working 8-4 as I am going to be doing full time curriculum development. yay!
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
David Archuletta
28. What did you want and get?
Finally a karaoke game for the PS3 courtesy of my little bro! Thanks P!
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Hrmmmm. I really liked Horton Hears a Who.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I had dinner at a Lebanese restaurant with my friends and Iron. I was the big 3-0!
32.What's one thing that would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If I had landed a job in a school board and was making a greatly increased salary.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Simple. Dress pants and sweaters/blouses. I try to wear heels sometimes, no small feat when you are already 5'10.
34. What kept you sane?
Iron. Although there have been some tough times, I don't know what I would do if I didn't have him in my life.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Still Johnny Depp :)
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Well I support gay rights. I was excited that Obama got elected too.
37. Who did you miss?
My kitty. I miss having a kitty so much!
38. Who was the best new person you met?
My new coworker R and getting back in touch with my English cousin K, who I hadn't talked to in years! Yay for the Internet!
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
"Money grows on the tree of patience."
Proverb (I need to be patient in terms of my money and have a plan)
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"Now I'm here to say I'm sorry
And ask for a second chance
Cause when it all comes down to the end
I could sure use a friend"-"The Best I Ever Had"-State of Shock
